Boss Hydration with these three coconut milk masques

Boss Hydration with these three coconut milk masques

Coconut milk is such a boss ingredient that you definitely want to incorporate in your regimen. I love the fact that it is accessible, a lot of people can pick it up quite cheaply from the supermarket, you might even have it right now in your cupboard.  But did you know that everyday item actually packs such a punch for your hair? It is a literal powerhouse. It is full of Lauric acid, and fatty acids that give great shine and suppleness to the hair. This decreases the chance of breakage and increases length retention. It is also packed to the brim with B vitamins B6, B3, B1, selenium, manganese, magnesium and iron all of which are really important for encouraging hair growth and maintaining a healthy scalp.

How to use this Coconut milk

I am going to be showing you three tried and trusted recipes that have a moisture and strength balance to varying degrees, however you are not limited to using coconut milk in this way. You can mix it in with any ayurvedic herbs of choice. We highly recommend the Curly Proverbz Henna Pro Strength powder and our Henna and Aloe Vera Masque.  You can make a thick mask using coconut milk as your liquid instead of water. Furthermore, it can be added to deep conditioners or glosses. Just have fun with it.

So grab your coconut milk, and you only need to use an third or half a tin. I invite you to add your essential oils of choice, basil, lavender rosemary and peppermint are some of my favourites. Journal studies that have shown that they have been effective in the regrowth and thickening of hair with consistent use.

RECIPE NO 1

Ingredients

RECIPE NO 2

Ingredients

  • 1/3 or 1/2 a can of coconut milk depending on hair length
  • A full banana (medium)
  • 6 drops of Essential oils (peppermint/basil/rosemary)
  • 1Tbsp of Honey
  • Carrot oil/Olive oil / Almond oil (Optional)
  • 2Tbsp Curly Proverbz Fenugreek Elixir
  • Essential oils

RECIPE NO 3 .

Ingredients

  • 1/3 or 1/2 a can of coconut milk depending on hair length
  • 1.5 Tbsp Hibiscus
  • 1 Tbsp of castor oil
  • Essential Oils

Mix or blend to get a smooth consistency

This treatment has a watery consistency and is definitely one of those treatments you use in the shower and massage it into your hair gently from root to ends. You can thicken by either keeping the coconut milk in the fridge beforehand or after mixing. Guar gum can also be a wonderful addition for thickening.

I’ve loved using henna in the past, however, it makes my hair turn reddish brown which I don’t want. Does your henna do the same?
